PAS research director says unlike other research organisations, the party will not reveal its data but use it to formulate their strategy.
ALOR SETAR: The head of research in PAS says party president Abdul Hadi Awang’s boast of winning 40 parliamentary seats and taking over five states in the 14th General Election is not unfounded but based on research carried out by the party.
ALOR SETAR: The head of research in PAS says party president Abdul Hadi Awang’s boast of winning 40 parliamentary seats and taking over five states in the 14th General Election is not unfounded but based on research carried out by the party.
“We aren’t like other research organisations where we reveal our research data to the public because we use it for the party’s strategy.
“So when the president says the party can win 40 seats and capture five states in the next general election, it’s not based on empty talk, but has foundations in our research, simulations and analyses,” PAS research director Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki said today.
He added the simulations also compared outcomes of straight fights and three-cornered fights.
Zuhdi said at the same time, PAS would take note of research carried out by other organisations, regardless of whether they were independent or linked to political parties, such as PKR and DAP, including Merdeka Centre, Invoke Malaysia, Darul Ehsan Institute and Penang Institute.
Recently, a survey by Invoke Malaysia revealed that PAS would receive the lowest votes from Malay voters in three-cornered fights.
PAS has refused to work with Pakatan Harapan and any party which has ties with its bitter rivals DAP and Amanah.
The party has also said it would enter the polls as a “third bloc”, in the form of the Gagasan Sejahtera coalition which also comprises Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) and Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa).
This year’s PAS muktamar is the second party assembly since the 2015 party elections which saw the defeat of several veteran leaders contesting for top posts.
These leaders later set up Amanah, who are now part of Pakatan Harapan together with PKR, DAP and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
